Short Scene Hair

Ever noticed the razor-cut, choppy hairstyles that many young boys and girls are sporting today? Scene hair is what the hairstyle is called, and is a very popular style amongst non-conforming groups of youngsters such as the ‘emo’, ‘goth’ or ‘scene’ kids.

Scene hair is the ‘in’ hairstyle at the moment. It is a cool trend, and needs a certain kind of personality that can carry it off. The hair trend is characterized by fringes or bangs just above the eyes, and is usually left long and straight at the back. Although the hairstyle can be sported in short scene hair bas well, extensions are sometimes used to give length to the hair. It is generally dyed in black, but may have strands blonde hair here and there. The hairstyle has to be very voluminous, and must have a lot of choppy, straight layers. It is usually adorned with colorful hair bands, clips, bows, hair pins, etc. The hairstyle is frequently accompanied with black kohl eyes that are half hidden with the fringes, and a piercing or two in the lips or eyebrows.

Although scene hair may refer to a typical kind of hairstyle, the style itself may vary from person to person. The aspects of this hairstyle that is mostly experimented with are the length and thickness of the bangs in the front, and the color of the hair. Right now, the trend is more towards side fringes with a few highlights of eye-catching colors like shocking pink or electric blue. Colors are added to the longer strands as well, and can consist of more than one shade at a time. In recent time, scene hair has also adopted the choppy medium and short hair within its definition as well. Short strands of hair can be sprayed into certain shapes or ‘spikes’, depending on the desire of the scenester carrying the style.

Scene hair is similar for guys as well, except for the length at the back. The hair is more likely to be in spikes for guys, achieved with the use of hair gels or hairsprays.

Scene hair is not for everyone. It is particularly for people, or rather youngsters, who fancy being unusual, and bizarre to certain extent. Scene hair reflects a certain kind of personality, and defines the person wearing it. It is also subject to change with time and fashion, but will always be a favorite amongst scenesters, at least as long as they exist.

The Scene Hair Evolution

Short Scene Hair

Just like anything else in life, scene Hair is evolving.  There seems to be a trend towards solid, stark colors and scene kids are getting away from those wild neon streaks that were predominant over the past several years.  While most parents would like the scene hairstyle to take its curtain call, it looks like it’s here to stay and the show has added a few extra scenes.  If you still aren’t familiar with scene hair by this point in time, just look at any music video channel on television and you will probably see at least one scene hairstyle in every video.

Because it has become so trendy and doesn’t seem to be loosing its allure, many stylists have an array of scene hair pictures in their salons.  And because it is so fashionable and looks like it’s here to stay, those stylists probably have a scene hair gallery on one or more of their walls.  It really is just that huge.   At first glance you would never imagine that it is as versatile as it is.  There is short scene hair, medium scene hair and even long, straight, jagged scene hair.

It isn’t limited to girls either!  There is boy scene hair that is actually fairly attractive.  If you have some spare time take a look around Facebook or MySpace.  There are literally thousands and thousands of young people sporting scene hair.  Try doing a search for scene hair and large cities like Seattle or Los Angeles.  It is really huge there and you will surely find plenty of scene hair pictures that are indicative as to exactly how the trend is evolving.

But the scene hairstyle is only part of it.  True, it’s probably the most important part but there is also scene makeup to contend with.  Girls especially, but some guys also wear that heavy black eyeliner that seems to have evolved from the 80’s rock scene or 90’s Goth.  Then again, look at some of the British female stars from the 60’s with their bleached blond straight puffy hair and heavy black eyeliner.  Maybe that’s the true beginning of the scene kids lifestyle.

A couple of years ago it looked like it might be a passing fad, but because it is still here it will probably be around for a good bit longer.  Scene hair has undergone several metamorphoses but it is still recognizable and still totally scene.  Unless you are in your 80’s or a member of a monastery in the Himalayas, you might want to check it out.
